– "Art Songs of China"
China's 5,000 years of cultural history is a rich and valuable addition to the field of music. Many Chinese art songs set famous poems from Tang-Song Dynasties that are among the greatest achievements of Chinese culture. In the recital program, several outstanding composers and their works from various time periods have been selected in order to show how the Chinese Art Song has developed over the course of its history, such as songs written by modern composers Dr. Derek Healey, Dr. Paul SanGregory, and traditional composers by Li Yinghai and Huang Youdi. In addition to introducing Chinese art songs, several newly arranged Chinese folk songs with western compositional technique by Dr. Dingyi Ma will be performed. Appropriate for children.
Mulan Foundation is proud to present a premiere recital by world reknowned artist and voice teacher, Dr. Mei Zhong showcasing Chinese Art songs of several outstanding composers and their works from various periods - musical artistry never heard or seen by an American audience.
